MACC senior officer in MyWatch to combat corruption, crime

PUTRAJAYA – A senior officer of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will be specially assigned to the Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch) to collect all information on crime and corruption activities obtained by the body, particularly those involving policemen.

MyWatch chairman R. Sri Sanjeevan claimed the approach would enable non-government organisations to channel information or reveal crime syndicates or corrupted policemen without undergoing a long process.

“The proposal was made by MACC, whereby a senior officer of MACC will be tasked to collect all information we obtained from the public or other sources.

“So, we don’t have to go every time and lodge complaints with MACC. He will collect all the information from us (MyWatch) and investigate with the MACC team until the prosecution,” he told Bernama, after holding a dialogue with MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed, here on 25 August.

He said, the two-hour dialogue session at the MACC Building was also attended by several directors of departments under MACC.

MyWatch would be informed of the name of the senior MACC officer next week, he added. – Bernama
